Mary Ann Clancy, sponsored by Ann Hennessy, was initiated into Alpha Delta Chapter in 1988. She served as Newsletter Committee Chairperson, Corresponding Secretary, President, Immediate Past President, and Chairperson of Nominations and Membership and as a member of the Finance Committee. At the State level, Mary Ann served on the Literacy Committee and attended State Conventions. She also held office on the Cook County Coordinating Council. Through her recommendations eleven new members joined the chapter.
Mary Ann was honored to receive the DKG Cook County Coordinating Council Outstanding Chapter Achievement Award in 1999.
Dr. Clancy was certified in Illinois to teach Early Childhood and K-9 students, and English as a Second Language. Additionally, she is certified in Counseling and Guidance, and Administration and Supervision. She has served Chicago Public School students as a classroom teacher, ESL teacher, Effective Schools Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Coordinator of a citywide program for the gifted, The International Baccalaureate Preparatory Program. During retirement, Mary Ann was a CPS Early Childhood Program Assessor, and at National Lewis University, a Supervisor of Student Teachers. She truly enjoys volunteering at her church and tutoring immigrant children.
