Roberta Sue Metz was invited into membership in 1976 by Ursula Maethner. Her chapter service included working on the Professional Affairs, Personal Growth, Hospitality and Yearbook committees. Roberta Sue taught at the elementary school level in Chicago schools and spent many summers teaching in high schools. Her specialties were economics and mathematics. She was Acting Assistant Principal at Warren Elementary, and for 18 years was the Assistant Principal at Ebinger Elementary School. Roberta Sue also served as a School Community Relations District Coordinator on the far southeast side of the city. During the time that she served as Coordinator, federal funds for Handicapped and Special Education students were initially available and distributed. One of Roberta Sue’s “fond memories” occurred in the summer of 1966 when she was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Hawaii. There she met and “dated” several of the pilots who were ferrying planes to Viet Nam. Roberta Sue designed and built her own home thirty years ago in her Retirement Village. She said, “the scenery is gorgeous, the experiences here, throughout the years, have been quite lovely and I am still enjoying every minute of it!” |
